Shortcake Biscuits

4 Cups flour

1/2 Cup sugar

2 Tablespoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 Cup butter

1 beaten egg

1-1/4 Cup whole milk


Preheat oven to 400oF.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Chop butter into pieces and cut into flour mixture until it resembles corn meal.

Beat in egg and milk.

Divide dough into 24 parts and form into biscuits.

Place on buttered baking sheet (or silicone mat).

Bake 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.


(Susan Branch makes eight 4" biscuits and bakes them for 15-17 minutes.)
